The "five-no" and "four-can't" are truly inspiring. They correct the concepts of rights and point to the justice of the day. President Xi's points will definitely leave a deep mark on the history of relations between the African continent and China, and the entire world.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, China and Africa have added depth and breadth to their bilateral cooperation. This, along with China's growing popularity in Africa, has drawn particular attention from developed European countries, the US and some emerging economies.
In this emerging global landscape, African countries would gain much from looking for common ground between their own goals expressed in the Agenda 2063 and China's foreign policy strategies like the Belt and Road initiative. With its considerable scope and tangible impact, the FOCAC could just be the right place to do so.
The possibility of the West leading the collaboration with the continent again always exists as long as they do not get their heads jammed by a geopolitical mind-set.
As part of the community with a shared future for mankind, the development and improvement of China-Africa community with a shared future will help build the former.

While Chinese volunteers have not changed Africa, they have been changed by Africa. Some of the young Chinese who came two or three years ago have enrolled into development studies and Africa studies; some have joined Chinese companies and are being sent back to Africa; others have decided to start their own NGOs to help African women groups sell handicrafts back to China. And I have reasons to believe that they have become an important group for Africa and China to better understand and work with each other in the future.
The West has no grounds for criticizing China's model in Africa.
As the African leaders head to Beijing for the FOCAC, let them keep in mind that they need to provide conducive environment for Chinese firms and workers to operate. These contractors require a working environment that will make them work smoothly. The recent harassment of Chinese workers over a lack of work permit and discrimination needs to be considered seriously.
The Chinese government needs to support local NGOs in Africa and let them speak for China and spread Chinese values and the Chinese path.
With the 2018 Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) scheduled for September 3-4, China is gearing up to receive delegates from the African continent to discuss progress in the strategic relationship and map out the future of a win-win model that is at the core of China's engagement internationally.
