Cars that offer low emissions are enjoying a sales boom. It comes after the government issued subsidy policies last month.

The auto market has been not-so-hot since the long National Day holiday. However, low-emission cars are enjoying popularity, with their prices becoming more affordable. This small model is sold at less than 30 thousand yuan.

One of the major reasons behind the affordable price is a recent government policy, which extends subsidization to more than 200 low emission car models. And the green drive has paid off.

Zhou Dan, Salesperson of Local car dealer said "The first thing a lot of buyers would do is ask if the car enjoys a subsidy."

Xia Shicheng, Sales Manager of Local Car dealer said "The policy plays a key role in motivating more major automakers to produce low-emission cars."

18 automakers have recently become beneficiaries of the government subsidy policy, and around eighty percent are local Chinese brands.

Despite the strong presence, insiders suggest China's automakers should put more emphasis on quality and services, instead of simply on sales.
