Great Wall Motor will soon start mass-production of its Hover H6 SUV after displaying the car at the upcoming 2010 Guangzhou International Motor Show, xcar.com reported Wednesday.
Positioned slightly higher than the existing models, the Hover H6 will compete head-on with Honda CRV, Toyota RV4 and other mainstream SUVs in the domestic market.
The Hover H6 has a 2,680 mm longer wheelbase than the CR-V and measures (LxWxH) 4,635 mm x 1,820 mm x 1,475 mm, with a 1,565 mm front/rear track and a minimum ground clearance of 185 mm. The car will be available in both two- and four-wheel drive versions.
The H6 will be initially launched with only a 2.0L inline four-cylinder gasoline engine, code-named G63SM, which delivers a maximum power of 150hp/6000rpm and a peak torque of 19.9kgm/4500rpm. In addition, it will feature a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Chinese automaker may later equip the Hover H6 with its self-developed 3.0L GW6VD30 diesel engine, providing power of 165kw/3800rpm and torque of 480Nm/1600-2800rpm. The diesel version will likely be put on the market next year, with an estimated price of over 150,000 yuan ($22,600), according to early sources.
