The sales volume of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd reached 86,299 units in January, up 17.52 percent year-on-year, setting a new record in the company's history. Chery exported 10,505 vehicles in the first month of 2011, up 132.5 percent from the same period in 2010.
According to statistics, Chery Cowin series tops the lists, selling 26,975 units. It is followed by Chery QQ, Fulwin II, selling 16,864 units and 10,854 units respectively. Chery Tiggo III and Chery A3 also keep on a popularity rise, selling 9,402 units and 7,471 units.
Statistics also show that sales volume of QQ takes up 19.5 percent of the total, meaning the company has let go of the one-model reliance.
Jin Yibo, spokesman of Chery said that although the sales volume in January was fantastic, the company is still cautiously optimistic about the volume this year.
The major reason for this surge is that January is a selling season for autos and a lot of models were sold out by the end of December 2010, right before the government's subsidy policy was called off, so automakers refilled the market with many new models.
According to Chery's development strategy, the company will pass its target from quantity-oriented to quality-oriented, Jin added.
Chery will launch five new models in 2011.
