GM Shanghai sales up

General Motors Co said Wednesday that its Shang¬hai car venture sold 78,207 cars in China in February, up 34 percent from a year earlier.

Its overall vehicle sales in China totaled 184,498 units last month. That represents a 5.8 percent rise year on year, according to company data.

The Detroit automaker operates manufacturing ventures in China with SAIC Motor Corp and FAW Group, making cars, light commercial vehicles and minivans.
