Chery Automobile sold 35,311 vehicles in February, down 60 percent from last month, but it still tops the list of sales volume among domestic automakers, the Xinhua Net reported on Thursday.

According to statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), affected by the long vacation of Spring Festival in February, the production and sales of Chinese autos decreased 29.89 percent and 33.09 percent.

Chery exported 7,043 vehicles last month, up 53 percent year-on-year.

Jin Yibo, spokesman of Chery, said the Spring Festival overlapped the selling season of vehicles in February so that the whole auto market saw a decline in sales volume.
