According to Dongfeng Motor's latest statistics released Thursday, after 40 years of development, the domestic automaker has produced and sold more than 10 million vehicles.
Established in September 1969, Dongfeng became the first auto manufacturer to have a production volume of 100,000 vehicles two years later.
In 2003, the automaker moved its headquarters to Wuhan, Hubei Province in central China. It expanded its business range to produce sedans, SUVs, MPVs, coaches, heavy trucks, light buses and auto parts.
Dongfeng also started to cooperate with foreign companies, including Kia, Nissan, Honda and PSA Peugeot Citroen to expand its production series. This year, the company produced 300,000 units more than last year, up 26 percent.
During the economic crisis this year, Dongfeng promoted low-cost operations and grew rapidly. In the first 11 months this year, the carmaker produced 1,675,600 units, up 36.58 percent from a year earlier. Its sales reached 1,688,700 vehicles, an increase of 39.73 percent year-on-year. The full-year production and sales volumes are expected to be more than 1.85 million units.
