China's top 10 automakers by sales in 2009

Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) took the lead among Chinese automakers in terms of sales both in December 2009 and the whole year of 2009, according to the latest statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

The top 10 automakers are SAIC (2,705,500 units), FAW (1,944,600 units), Dongfeng (1,897,700 units), Changan (1,869,800 units), Beijing Automobile (1,243,000 units), Gaungzhou Automobile (GAIG) (606,600 units), Chery (500,300 units), BYD (448,400 units), Brilliance (348,300 units) and Geely (329,100 units). In December 2009, they sold a total of 1.22 million vehicles, 86 percent of the country's total for that month.

The combined sales of the 10 automakers reached 11.89 million units in 2009, accounting for 87 percent of the year's total.
