Chinese automaker FAW striving to get stronger
In recent years, through deepening the strategic cooperation with multinational companies and expanding overseas market, China FAW Group Corporation has entered a new stage of developing itself via introducing worldwide capital with the global field of vision.
During such a course, FAW has experienced such a change from "independent development based on opening and cooperation" to "opening and cooperation based on independent development".
Although it seems just the word position has been exchanged, it has transferred the focus of strategic adjustment for enterprises. Through strengthening the capability of independent innovation and striving for building up the competitiveness of self-owned brands, FAW's independent innovation has been developed greatly.
2009 is the year when FAW initiates the plan of "improving two aspects within three years". The so-called "improving two aspects within three years" is a near-term target that FAW has put forward for the realization of making its independent career strong and big: striving to make both the operation for and competitive strength of those independently-developed products improved obviously within three years.
In the past 2009, China FAW Group Corporation has witnessed favorable business performance and rapid growth on output, sales volume and profits. Its sales volume has exceeded 1.94 million sets, ranking the second in domestic auto industry.
Those independently-developed products have taken actions comprehensively. The competitive strength of sedans and moderate heavy trucks has been improved obviously, all growth rates of trucks, light autos and mini autos have exceeded the average industrial level, and the pattern that new products assume the major force on seizing the market shares has shaped up.
Among various products, the sales volume of the moderate heavy trucks manufactured by FAW Jiefang Automotive Company Ltd reached 180,000 sets, up 15.9 percent year on year and achieving the performance superior to the average industrial growth rate; the performance of Besturn sedans has further consolidated FAW's market position in the mid-grade sedans with self-owned brands due to the annual sales volume of 88,000 sets and a year-on-year increase of 85 percent,.
In 2009, FAW launched such products as Besturn B50, new Senya M80 and the new generation Xiali N5.
In the aspect of motor, such motors as 6DL, 6DM and 6DN have been more and more stable and mature; in the field of technology, those fields focusing on energy saving, environmental protection and reliable durability have also witnessed favorable performance.
In 2010, to put the plan of "improving two aspects within three years" into place has become one of FAW's main works. The development goal will be realized through reinforcing the work on various aspects, such as product technology, quality, cost, sale, service, management, rules and systematic construction.
The year of 2010 will also be an "intensive launch year" for FAW's new independently-developed products, such as Jiefang J6P/J6, new Besturn B50, new Besturn B70 and new Xiali V5, which will inject new vigor into China's emerging market of the independently-developed autos.
