Brazil's vehicle sales are record-high in 2010
Brazil's vehicle sales registered in 2010 record-high 3.515 million units, up 11.9 percent from 2009, the National Motor Vehicle Distribution Federation (Fenabrave) announced on Wednesday.
According to Fenabrave, it was the fourth consecutive record-high result in the country. All sectors registered sale rise last year. The sales of buses were up 25.3 percent, while the truck sales rose 44.4 percent.
The sales of cars and light commercial vehicles reached 3.329 million units, up 10.6 percent from 2009. The motorbike sales, which are not included in Fenabrave's main sale figures, also increased, reaching 1.8 million units, up 12.1 percent from 2009.
Italian manufacturer Fiat maintained its market share lead in 2010, with 760,474 units sold, which amounted to 22.84 percent of participation. Volkswagen had a 20.95 percent market share, with 697,342 units sold. GM ranked third, with a market share of 19.75 percent and 657,622 units sold, and Ford ranked fourth, with a 10.1 percent share and 336,309 units sold.
