China vehicle export poor in 2010

Though the production volume hit record high reaching 18.26 million units last year, China's exported vehicles only accounted for 2.98 percent of the total, which is 544,900 units, lower than Thailand, Mexico, India and Brazil, according to statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufactures (CAAM).

In 2010, 282,900 units of passenger vehicles were exported, with an average price of $6,535/unit. And with the average price of $17,800, the export of commercial vehicles was less than passenger ones.

Germany exported 4.24 million units, taking 76.29 percent of its total production volume in 2010, while Korea exported 2.77 million. Japan exported 4.37 million units from January to November. And Thailand is expected to have reached an export volume of 907,000 units in 2010.

Comparing to other BIRC members, China's vehicle export volume was only better than Russia's. India exported 1.80 million between April 2009 and March 2010, and it's expecting a 10 to 15 percent growth from April 2010 to March 2011. Brazil exported 765,700 units in 2010.
