East China's Shangdong Province sold 604,900 vehicles in the first half of 2009, up 24.77 percent from a year earlier. It's the first time that Shangdong has produced 10 percent of China's domestically-made vehicles.
Increasing 24.52 percent year-on-year, Shandong Province made 606.600 units in the first six months.
Due to the auto subsidy plan, minibuses in Shandong were sold 159,000 units and light trucks were sold 265,900 units in the first half of 2009.
Now the problem for the Shandong auto industry is that there is an oversupply of vehicles. Affected by the global economic downturn, the earnings of many automakers in Shandong will decline in the fist half of this year, said Wei Xueqin, executive vice president of the Shandong Automobile Industry Association.
