Auto exports at Tianjin port decline 41.3%

During the first seven months of 2009, 44,000 vehicles were exported from Tianjin port, down 41.3 percent from a year earlier. The export value declined 35 percent year-on-year to $660 million.

In terms of general trade, from January to July, 42,000 units were exported from Tianjin, taking up 95.5 percent of the total exported vehicles, but the number declined 41.7 percent year-on-year.

State-owned auto companies and foreign-investment enterprises exported 21,000 units and 20,000 vehicles respectively, declining 24.1 percent and 49 percent from a year earlier.

Vans were the main vehicles exported, making up 70.5 percent of the total. But the amount has dropped 27 percent to 31,000 units during the first seven months.
