Imported Pajero 3.0L, under the wing of Japanese auto titan Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, debuted the Chengdu Motor Show on September 19, 2009.

Lately, reporters visited the sole Mitsubishi 4S store in Shanghai, finding out that it had begun accepting orders for imported Pajero 3.0L. The three versions of the model are respectively priced at 408,000 yuan, 418,000 yuan and 428,000 yuan.

To book Pajero 3.0L in advance, buyers are required to pay deposits of 20,000 yuan. They can pick up ordered cars as early as mid or late September.

The promotion of Pajero 3.0L further enriches the product line of imported Mitsubishi SUVs, including earlier comers such as Pajero 3.8L and Outlander EX, and the product line will cover products with a price range from 250,000 yuan to 550,000 yuan. In the fourth quarter of 2009, another ten models of Outlander EX will be introduced into China.

Mitsubishi Motor Sales (China) Co., Ltd., established between Mitsubishi Motors and Mitsubishi Corporation, will continue enlarging its inputs into China to boost sales and extending service networks around the country in the future five years, disclosed its general manager.

Currently, MMSCN is beautifying its brand image in China. The company provides several models oriented to the mass market, such as Lancer EX, Outlander EX and Pajero, which cover different segmented fields, like midsize and small sedan, SUV, and MPV fields.

MMSCN decides to introduce Pajero 3.0L into China, because the country is lacking in imported SUV models priced around 400,000 yuan.

Meanwhile, the company needs to expand its own SUV product line so as to maintain competitiveness in different price ranges. Besides, the Pajero greatly reduces fuel consumption and exhaust gas displacement, thus is environmental-friendly.

MMSCN witnessed its sales of imported cars rise from about 4,000 vehicles of 2006 to 10,000 vehicles in 2007 and 14,000 vehicles in 2008. Its target stands at 16,000 vehicles for 2009 and 150,000 vehicles within five years. As one of the strengths of imported Mitsubishi SUVs, the Pajero has had a satisfying performance.

Hunan Changfeng Motors Co., Ltd. is a joint venture between Mitsubishi Motors and Hunan Changfeng Automobile Manufacturing Corporation. The company introduces the productive technology of the Pajero from the Japanese party.

As to whether there is competition between Hunan Changfeng and MMSCN, a top executive of the latter says that Hunan Changfeng and South East Motor are both partners of Mitsubishi Motors in China but focus on differentiated products. Hunan Changfeng focuses on SUVs.
