SAIC 1H volume of production, marketing exceed 1.7 million

SAIC Motor Corp announced Tuesday that the company reached a sales volume of 1.77 million units in the first half of 2010, an increase of 44.89 percent year-on-year. And produced 1.74  million vehicles during the same period, up 43.92 percent from a year earlier.

The top Chinese automaker sold 289,200 units in June, up 29.98 percent from a year earlier. The production volume in the same month grew 28.2 percent year-on-year to 299,100 units.

SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile (SGMW), a joint venture between SAIC, GM and Wuling, remained the biggest contributor to SAIC with a sales volume of 681,198 units in the first half, up 29.7 percent. Last month, the maker of China's best-selling minivan, Sunshine, sold 100,100 units, an increase of 20.75 percent.

Shanghai GM and Shanghai Volkswagen saw a 66 percent and 39.8 percent sales gain respectively during the past six months, reaching 480,005 units and 447,008 sedans.
