Recently, Peugeot revealed to the media that it will speed up the development of electric cars, motorcycles and new cars' businesses in China to expand the Chinese market share.
Peugeot's new electric car BB1 made its debut in the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China. Philip Ambato, minister for international department of Peugeot, said that if the Chinese new energy market has a promising prospect, and PSA is anxious for the introduction of such an environment-friendly electric car, Peugeot BB1 will pick the optimum time to enter the Chinese market.
To further implement its plan in expanding its market share in China, Peugeot will release a series of motorcycle products in the Chinese market at the beginning of 2011. A man in charge of Peugeot's light motorcycle business said Peugeot now has 20 motorcycle models and three of them have already been produced in China.
In the first half of this year, Peugeot's sales in China increased 37 percent. A manager from Peugeot said from 2010 to 2012, it will release 14 new models worldwide and at least introduce one new model in China every year, including imported cars.
Meanwhile, Peugeot's sales network will reach 220 stores by the end of this year.
