Germany's new car exports to China in the first six months of this year reached 4.4 billion euros ($5.94 billion), accounting for 6.1 percent of its total car exports, China Business Times reported Sunday, citing results of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany.
Germany exported about 128,000 cars to China in the first half, up 300 percent compared with 40,000 cars exported in the same period last year.
In 2009, German car exports to China totaled 122,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 33.9 percent.
China is now Germany's fifth largest vehicle export destination, following Britain (339,000 units), America (257,000 units), Italy (204,000 units) and France (180,000 units).
The Associated Press said China's enormous demand for German cars can help German auto manufacturers emerge from the crisis quickly.
