SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., General Motors' mini commercial vehicle joint venture in China with SAIC Motor and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile, has officially rolled out its first self-developed sedan, Baojun 630, Monday, sohu.com reported Monday.
The Baojun 630 looks quite similar with the previous GP50 concept car except some changes to its rear section, like rear window and rear lights, etc., which makes the front more prominent, especially the logo.
Three engines will be available in the Baojun car - a 1.5L four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, code-named B15D, a VVT (Variable Valve Timing) engine based on the B15D and a 1.8L naturally aspirated gasoline engine with VVT, dual overhead cam and variable intake manifold systems.
In terms of transmission, the Baojun 630 will be equipped with two 5-speed manual transmissions and one 6-speed automatic transmission: the D16, SH17 and GF6.
As a compact sedan, the Baojun 630 is well positioned to rival Shanghai GM's Excell, and expected to be sold for less than 100,000 yuan ($15,000), likely between 65,000 yuan and 95,000 yuan. The lower prices will allow the car to compete better with other domestically made compact sedans.
