Infiniti, the luxury brand of Japan's Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., posted 127 percent year-on-year sales growth in China in the first half this year and is set to break the 10,000 mark, auto.ifeng.com reported Thursday.

Nissan Motor and Nissan (China) Investment Co set up the Infiniti China Business Unit on July 1 to further expand its business in China, which Infiniti senior vice president Andy Palmer said earlier in an interview will become the brand's second largest market.

Since its entry into the Chinese market in 2007, Infiniti has launched there a number of competitive products, including the 2011 Infiniti QX56 (a full-size SUV), the 2010 Infiniti FX series, the Infiniti M series, G series and the EX crossovers. All these luxury sedans, SUVs and crossovers have been well received in China due to their high performance, stylish design and fine features.

Infiniti plans to increase its dealerships to 100 by 2015 from the current 23. Just as Andy Palmer said, Infiniti's outstanding performance is only a new starting point in terms of its China business as it actually has another grand plan that will guarantee the premium brand to never lag behind its rivals in the world's biggest auto market.
