First and second line cities being the pilot, small and medium-sized cities falling behind

Although the automakers nationwide are penetrating into small and medium-sized cities, the auto market in first and second line cities in Guangdong Province are still developing far more quickly. Ranking the first on vehicle registration, Guangzhou had 4,100 more cars registered than Shenzhen for the first ten months. Dongguan surpassed Foshan in October, which is the first time for Dongguan to beat Foshan since April.

Although first and second line cities have become the main force of the Cantonese auto market, less developed small-sized cities are still left far behind. Low emission car sales possibly to reach the peak in December.

Cars emitting under 1.6L cover 55.89 percent of the registered vehicles in October in Guangdong Province, while market share of 1.6L-2.0L cars and 2.0L -3.0L cars declined 1.3 percent and 1.4 percent respectively.

In September, dealers provided price reduction in order to boost sales. However, they started taking away the discounts, or even refused to sell the vehicles after hearing the rumors that the country may cancel preferential policies of purchase tax in the near future.

"As the market price increased for several thousand yuan since September, the dealer refuse to give me the car I subscribed," a customer surnamed Li complained. He said the 4S shop refused to give him the car with the excuse of 'lack of appropriate car models.'

Experts in the industry expected that the sales of low emission cars will reach their highest in December.
