Volvo ponders new location for plant

The location for Volvo's new production plant in China has yet to be settled, four months after Chinese automaker Geely completed its takeover. However, it will be pinned down before next spring, said Shen Hui, Volvo's senior vice president responsible for operations in China, during the Guangzhou Auto Show.

"The board of directors will take into account factors such as logistics, suppliers, labor costs, and the surrounding market to select the best location for Volvo's manufacturing base," Shen added.

Possible locations include Shanghai, Chengdu, and Daqing.
