Chengdu aims for 50% increase in auto output

Longquanyi District in Chengdu will fully implement its "manufacturing millions of vehicles" plan to realize the annual auto output target of 150,000 units this year, which means a 50 percent increase from 2010, the wccdaily.com reported Friday.
An official with Chengdu Economic Development Zone said that it is highly possible for Chengdu to realize the target.
Some 20,000 units of Prado, produced by Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd have come off the production line recently. And In 2011, FAW Toyota plans to manufacture 30,000 vehicles.
Last year, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Company produced 40,666 units of Jetta in Chengdu and the company's second project will put into operation in September this year and the estimated output capacity is 100,000 units.
