BYD to build 3rd manufacturing base

Carmaker BYD plans to invest 2 billion yuan to build its third manufacturing base in Changsha, Hunan Province in central China.

The company has been in talks with Hunan Sanxiang Bus Group since 2008, trying to acquire the company, which stopped production for almost a year, said a person familiar with this issue.

Sanxiang and BYD are still discussing the acquisition amount.

BYD plans to build a first-class coach base in Changsha, with an annual production of 200,000 units of F0 sedans.
