Former Fiat China CEO joins Geely

Former CEO of Fiat Powertrain Technologies Shen Hui, joins Zhejiang Geely Holding Group as vice president of the Chinese automaker, Caijing reported Monday.

Shen will be responsible for Geely's overseas projects, according to the report.

Fiat China recently confirmed Shen's resignation and Geely also verified his position as the vice president.

Analysts believed that Shen's rich experience in multinational auto companies will help Geely's bid to acquire Volvo.

Insiders from Geely said that the company may see the results of the Volvo bid within a month.

Ford named Geely as preferred bidder for Volvo in October this year, but consortiums led by former senior executives of Volvo and the Swedish Automobile Labor Union have also put in offers, intensifying the competition.
