Toyota Q3 profit halves

Japan's Toyota said Tuesday that its net profit for the nine months to December nearly quadrupled and upped its outlook, saying the "wounds" from a massive recall crisis and spate of lawsuits had partly healed.

However, the maker of the popular Prius hybrid saw a 39 percent fall in third-quarter net profit year-on-year as sales slipped and operating profit tumbled at a time when the yen hit a 15-year high versus the dollar.
