Nissan China sales up

Nissan Motor Co reported a 15 percent drop in quarterly profit on a stronger yen and sliding Japanese sales.

But Nissan has been a standout particularly in China, where a lineup of smaller cars that qualified for tax incentives such as the Tiida compact fueled 36 percent sales growth last year. In 2010 Nissan sold 1.02 million vehicles in China, mostly through its 50-50 joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group.
