Domestic automakers striving to get stronger

In 2009,with the issuance of a series of policies on promoting auto consumption and the stabilization and recovery of China's economic situation, domestic auto market recovered rapidly and showed a rapid development trend.

The auto output and sales volume in 2009 was 13.791 million and 13.6448 million sets, up nearly 50 percent year-on-year respectively. China's auto industry that has stridden over the milestone of 10 million sets and realized "big scale" is walking forwards the target of being powerful.

"For China, to become a true auto power, the quality of auto products is cannot be neglected." At the Summit Forum on the Quality of China's Autos with Self-owned Brands held recently, a consensus has been reached among conference participants. China's autos with self-owned brands have entered the year of 2010, which makes "quality" the central theme.

In fact, China's automakers with self-owned brands have been attaching great importance to improving auto products' quality for several years. In this case, more and more consumers have selected the autos with self-owned brands. Consumers' recognition has also increased the market share of the autos with self-owned brands greatly.

Statistics from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows that in 2009, the total sales volume of China's passenger cars with self-owned brands is 4.577 million sets, occupying 44 percent of the total sales volume of passenger cars and up 4 percentage points than that of last year.

Teng Bole, Deputy Director of China Automotive Industry Consultative Committee, believed that although a new achievement has been made by China's auto industry, which realized rapid development against the adversity in 2009, the achievement only in quality cannot represent the whole of the auto industry, so a calm consideration is needed in addition to gladness.

For the autos with self-owned brands, to seek for a long-run development and stabilize and develop domestic market for maximum market share, "quality" will be an important way to tackle the issue of development.

At the above-mentioned forum, Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd has issued Declaration of Building up Chinese Autos' Quality. The Declaration called on the automakers with self-owned brands to pay more attention to improving the quality of auto products, and summoned overall auto industrial chain to take action and contribute to the transformation from a manufacture-focused auto industry to a quality-focused one in China.

As understood, with the products in high quality, Great Wall Motor has hit a record among Chinese enterprises: it has been the enterprise that owns the most auto types passing EU's certificate for entire autos. Then, Great Wall Motor obtained the sales right without restriction in EU's member countries.

Zhu Xichan, a professor of Automobile Institute, Tongji University, expressed that China has become the largest auto manufacture country in the world, but if only located in domestic development, enterprises will have survival crisis inevitably.

Last year, Great Wall Motor obtained EU's certificate relying on persistent efforts. Such an insight of scanning widely to the world is good for reference.

Chai Wanbao, Vice President of Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd, expressed that Great Wall Motor has always insisted on providing fine products with high quality for users.

In terms of environmental protection, Great Wall Motor declared to manufacture "healthy" autos, and the environmental-friendly concept will not only be embodied in fuel emission, but also in the material of auto bodies; meanwhile, Great Wall Motor has also brought forward "three-dimension safety theory", that is "the safety of autos is sourced from the overall protection for autos, passengers and passersby".
