Hyundai Blue-Will (2010)
Hyundai has never been afraid to make bold moves in its concept vehicles and that trend continues in its Blue-Will Plug-In Hybrid Concept that is expected to be on display at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show.
The compact 4-door, 4-seat sedan is a test bed of new ideas including panoramic glass roof with solar cells for recharging batteries, a thermal generator which converts hot exhaust gases into electricity, drive-by-wire steering, lithium polymer batters and touch screen controls.
Blue-Will promises an EV driving range up to 40 miles on a charge and an economy rating up to 100 mpg. Helping to achieve those numbers is a direct injection 1.6 liter 152-hp four, a CVT and a 100kw electric motor. The interesting exterior styling is matched by a flowing interior with Transparent Organic Light Emitting Diode displays mounted on the steering column and adjustable. Wheelbase is 106.3 inches, length comes in at 169.3 and width at 70.9 inches.
