Auto China 2010: Volkswagen Touareg

Volkswagen introduces its new Tourareg models at the Auto China 2010. They have been  popular in China's sport-utility vehicle (SUV) market since 2006.

The new Touareg has released three types of dynamic systems, among which the spotlight is on the hybrid.  As Volkswagen's first hybrid type produced in large volumes, it has a 3.0-liter V6 engine and an electric motor producing 333hp and 47hp respectively, thus the acceleration from zero to 100km per hour is 6.2 seconds.

The interior of the new Touareg is well-equipped and luxurious. Besides having a keyless access, there is an auxiliary input jack to plug in an iPod and a touch-screen satellite navigation system. It also has leather seats and the vehicle has various functions for users to control, such as ventilation, heating and massage.

Compared with previous models, the new Touareg's lines are simple but powerful. Its LED running lights are now quite popular in the configuration of luxury cars.

However, the engines of the first released models of Touareg are mainly diesel-based, and so Chinese customers will have to wait for the gas-based ones.

Pricing for the released models is expected to range from 666,000yuan to 1,580,000 yuan ($97,504 to $231,315).
