Handling

Netease Auto
The Tiguan 1.8TSI has 118 kW power and 250 Nm torque under its hood, which is enough for daily driving. The handling though can not be able to compete with that of the sedans; it ranks high in city SUVs. You may feel a little bit tardy on the gear box, but it's acceptable. The brake is lazy in the first half of the throw, but it gets acute in the rest.

Because of its heavier body, the domestic Tiguan may give a lazy response at starting or braking, but it's doesn't feel obvious. If you maintain your rpm at a sufficient level, the 2.0TSI can burst out its power better.

For daily driving, the Tiptronic 6AT transmission feels smooth, making it harder to find out the shift time. In order to keep the car fuel-economical, the gear box gets soon into high gear state.

The domestic Tiguan equipped with the Germany SACHS bumper. The suspension responds obscurely, defining it as a comfy car.

Usually a TSI engine means maximum torque in low rpm. That endows the Tiguan a striking performance under every situation. However, its 1,680 Kg weight inevitably makes the acceleration process soft and quiet, differing from what common turbocharged engines bring.

The setting of its chassis inherits the compact and stable feature from Euro models. You even sometime get a illusion that you are in a sedan. Meanwhile, hardness of the independent suspension was abated for comfort and road conditions in China.
