Because the Sportage has a low rear floor tunnel, three adults can fit in the second row. All passengers have an abundance of cup and bottle holders at their disposal.

The rear seat has decent width and enough head-and legroom to accommodate sixfooters comfortably. The cargo bay, which features the needed privacy cover, tie-downs and minimal wheelwell intrusions, features a flat floor and a storage bin beneath it. With the seats upright, the Sportage makes light work of 26.1 cubic feet of stuff; folding the seats flat increases the volume to 54.6 cu. ft. The only nits to pick are the fixed rear window and non-folding front passenger seat. In an ideal world, the glass would open independently of the liftgate and the fold-flat front seat would allow a longer item to be carried with the gate closed.

For starters, the overall layout of the interior was very well done. Space appears to be well utilized, and given its class, the vehicle was actually quite spacious - particularly with the generous legroom offered in the second row.
