With a double CVVT 2.0L displacement engine, the Sportage R can output the power reposefully. Engine speed is fast and loud, but not at all intrusive. The traction output is a little slow yet lingering. Throttle and brake pedals are adequately designed and easy to drive.
Its 6 gears make shifting so smooth that you can hardly feel it. Stick shift answers fast in gear shifting. However, compared with SUVs of heavyweight, 2.0L displacement engines cannot guarantee strong driving force.

When you put your hands on the steering wheel, the only thing you can feel is smoothness, but it is a little bit too sensitive and fresher might have some trouble handing it. The transmission shifts smoothly through its six gears. However, the transmission speed is slower, proven to be more economic.
Independent McPherson Strut Front Suspension and Muti-link rear suspension feel kind of rigid. Going over some rough pavement, the rear passenger may have a hard trip. The car keeps steady in the corners, and stabilizing bars prevents excessive body roll. But this rough suspension feels extremely remarkable on the highway.

A 2.0L displacement engine of 163 horsepower is not so strong for a SUV like the Sportage R, and only can satisfy daily drivings. Although engine noise increases on accelerating, you can hardly feel it's speeding up.
