Interior

Overly styled describes the Accord's nose, too. It looks better in the darker colors, which mask the profusion of slots, slashes, meshes, and lips. From the driver's seat, the controls look complicated, a bewildering clutter of buttons and knobs. But a sensible logic emerges. The visual displays—the dials and the central screen—are positioned high, just a short glance from your view of the road. The controls you reach for are mostly stalks or are clustered centrally where the panel's contours hold them close to your right hand. Accords with optional navigation get the same input logic used in recent Acura models, operated with an easy-to-reach twist-tilt-press knob in the middle of the dash. On no-nav Accords, the main audio-control knob goes there.

Honda describes the new Accord's interior as “premium quality with a simple, modern and spacious design.” The interior is functional and well laid out. The dashboard features a stepped design to enhance the feel of spaciousness. Slender “A” pillars increase outward vision for the driver. A variety of sound systems (including an available 270 watt premium sound system); silver or wood tome trim; cloth or leather upholstery; and Bluetooth connectivity, XM Satellite Radio, and Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation with Voice Recognition are among standard items depending on trim level. Styling is evolutionary, and for the first time, the Accord is classified as a “Large Sedan” by the Environmental Protection Agency. V6 Accords feature chrome door handles, with fours getting.

the interior ambience is a long, long way from where the Accord started back in 1976. It is, predictably, much closer in aura to a current Acura. That's certainly true of the high-end EX-L V6 model that we spent the most time in, with its 270-watt stereo, navigation system and butter-colored leather separated from the mocha latte dash by strips of toffee. It's delicious.
