This eighth-generation Accord four-door is big, just 2.5 inches shy of the lunker Chrysler 300's length, almost five inches longer than a Camry. It's wide, too, one more inch than the Camry, and the front buckets are spread 1.5 inches farther apart than in the previous Accord, so the '08 feels wide as well. Officially, its 120 cubic feet of interior and cargo volume push it, barely, over the bar into the EPA Large Car class.

More than 1.9 million sales later, the eighth generation Accord is better than ever. Compared to the first Accord, the new model is nearly nine inches wider and almost three feet longer. Styling is evolutionary, and for the first time, the Accord is classified as a “Large Sedan” by the Environmental Protection Agency. Honda describes the new Accord's interior as “premium quality with a simple, modern and spacious design.”

Honda is eager to mention that the 2008 Accord is now one of the few midsize sedans that's actually a large car. It's still no Chrysler 300, but neither will your head be brushing the headliner. And Honda notes that it added more space between the driver and passenger and widened the center console to give a more expansive feeling to the interior. Personally, we felt we had become estranged from our co-driver, but only by 40 millimeters.
