What didn't we like about the Fiesta? Rear-seat legroom. One bystander kept asking us why Ford even bothered with a five-door variant and all we could do was show him how uncomfortable 3 adults would be sitting in the back of the Fiesta.

In back, the Fiesta's shortish 98.0-in wheelbase limits rear-seat knee room, making emergency evacuations of 6-footers possible but not comfortable. Utility can make or break a B-class car, and the Fiesta receives an average score here. Its hatch liftover sill seems high, and with the 60/40-split rear seat folded flat, there's a 4-in. step between the load floor and the seatbacks.

The Fiesta boasts plenty of flexibility and a surprising amount of space. The car's 2,490-millimetre wheelbase yields a maximum cargo volume of 34.5 cubic feet. The lone issue is that when the 60/40-split rear seat is folded, it sits above the trunk floor by about 100 mm. Ultimately, it is more of an inconvenience than a real problem — larger boxes sit on the trailing edge of the seat back where they tend to wobble. On a more positive note, the rear seats are finished with a steel backing plate, which prevents heavy cargo from crashing through the cushion in the event of a rear-ender.
