Cars from Detroit sell well in the American heartland, but not on either coast. In California, Oregon, Washington and much of the east coast, together with west coast, there are a small numbers of Detroit brands driven there.
However, Detroit automakers are improving the quality of their vehicles and launching new products to entice coastal buyers. Currently Ford is gaining even more ground this year, according to Art Spinella of CNW Marketing who says the second-largest US automaker has seen its consideration factor rising from 10.6 percent in 1994 to 19.7 percent last year.
Experts said it will take time for the situation to improve for Detroit carmakers, although there are signs that the situation is improving.
