Vehicle sales in the US may increase almost 15 percent to 11.5 million units in 2010, an influential industry forecaster said Wednesday.
Gary Dilts, senior vice president at J.D. Power & Associates said, "The credit market is a little better, the financial market is stabilizing, and consumer confidence is edging along."
Dilts believes 1 million or 1.5 million units will be sold next year, and retail sales in August could total 11 million on an annualized basis, flatter than a year earlier.
J.D. Power had projected US light vehicle sales of 10 million units for 2009, down from 13.2 million units last year and 16.2 million units in 2007.
