Toyota global sales up 5%

Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it sold about 640,000 vehicles worldwide in October, up 5 percent from a year earlier. This is the first year-on-year increase for the Japanese automaker in 15 months.

Toyota's US October sales dropped 3.5 percent, while sales in China surged 45 percent and 15 percent in Japan.
