US automaker Ford Motor Co. unveiled the new Lincoln MKX SUV Tuesday morning at the 2010 North America International Auto Show (NAIAS) in the US auto city of Detroit.
Ford's executive chairman Bill Ford told reporters that Lincoln MKX SUV will lead the way for the introduction of My Lincoln Touch instrument panel technology which will digitalize many of the basic controls of the car.
The MKX launch featured a song from recent Lincoln TV advertising "Under the Milky Way" which was originally sung by a group called The Church. For the NAIAS show, Lincoln launched a nationwide search for a new artist and eventually found Calloway.
The full-color 8-inch touch-screen LCD provides access to multimedia and climate control systems through full touch-sense switches on the panel. The system on the Lincoln MKX offers a touch-sensitive slider feature with LED chaser lights to adjust fan speed and volume. At night, Lincoln's signature white illuminates the indicators and so-called touch point.
For 2011, the MKX receives a new 3.7-liter V-6 engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The power train's highway fuel economy is rated at 25 mpg " all on regular fuel.
