Japan's automobile production rises 30.7% on year in Jan.

Automobile production in Japan rose in January by 177,234 units, or 30.7 percent, from the same month a year earlier, Japan Automobile Manufacturer Association, Inc. ( JAMA) said in a report on Friday.
A total of 753,773 units were produced in January compared to 576,539 automobiles built in the same month a year ago, with Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi producing the most units respectively.
Toyota increased its production in January by 128.5 percent from the same month a year earlier, producing a total of 268,888 units. Nissan's output rose 183.1 percent from a year earlier, with a production output of 86,938 automobiles in January, while Mitsubishi, producing 46,714 units, also marked a significant rise of 184 percent compared to the same month a year ago, JAMA said.
Domestic sales in January stood at 366,659 vehicles, marking a rise of 21.5 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year.
Automobile exports rose 45.6 percent in January from the same month a year earlier, standing at 340,421 units, an increase of 106,562 units, with Toyota, Nissan and Mazda shipping the most units respectively.
Toyota posted a 143.5 percent export increase in January as compared to the same month in 2009, Nissan's overseas shipments rose 129.6 percent and Mazda's exports increased 270.5 percent in January from the same month a year earlier, JAMA said.
North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asian regions respectively were the major recipients of Japanese automobile exports, with all regions' posting percentage increases on automobiles received in January from the same month a year earlier.
According to JAMA, the total value of automobiles exported for January was $9,640.59 million, which included $6,961.54 million for vehicles and $2,679.05 million for parts. This marks an increase of $4,072.61 million or 73.1 percent as compared with $5,567.98 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.
