South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co., and its affiliate, Kia Motor Corp., said Monday that its April auto sales have both increased from a year ago, largely due to rising demand in domestic and overseas markets.
Hyundai, the country's top automaker, saw its auto sales rise 27.6 percent in April from the previous year, as it sold a total of 310,396 units in the cited period, the company said.
Domestic sales stood at 55,339 units, a 16.9 percent growth, and exports went up 30.1 percent to reach 255,057 units sold, according to the company.
Kia, Hyundai's affiliate and South Korea's second-largest carmaker, also gained in April sales as it sold 174,580 units last month, a 48.6 percent gain from the previous year, the company said in a statement.
It added domestic sales increased 32.8 percent to 38,513 units while export jumped 53.8 percent to 136,067 units.
