Japan's auto production climbs 25.9% on year in June

The Japanese automobile production rose 25.9 percent on year in June, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) said in a report July 30.
A total of 861,045 units were produced in the recording month, with local sales logged at 448,831 vehicles, a 17.4 percent increase compared to the same month a year earlier, the industry body said.
In addition, JAMA reported that automobile production for the first half of 2010 soared 45.8 percent and sales of vehicles in Japan rose 21.5 percent from the first half of 2009.
By manufacturer, Toyota produced the most vehicles in June at 296,867 units, a rise on year of 118.2 percent and Nissan held the second spot producing 100,471 vehicles, a rise of 128.6 percent compared to the same month a year earlier.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi saw production rise 166.1 percent with output totaling 54,667 units, according to JAMA.
Exports in June climbed 38.7 percent, with the value of vehicles shipped climbing 48.4 percent and totaling $12.48 billion, JAMA said.
