Car production in Russia rises by 70.6 percent

Car production in Russia from January to July 2010 rose by 70.6 percent year-on-year, Russia's Statistics authority Rosstat reported Monday.
According to the RIA Novosti news agency, the number of cars made in Russia for that period amounted to 599,000. In July alone, the number of car output rose 83.6 percent year-on-year.
The number of the buses produced rose 39.4 percent to 19,100 units. In July, production of buses rose by 43.2 percent year-on-year.
For the same period, the number of trolley-buses made in Russia dropped by 32.2 percent to 200 units. In July, their output fell 2.5 times compared to July 2009.
Production of the trucks rose by 51.8 percent to 74.600 for seven months of 2010. In July, the growth was 58.4 percent.
Production of electric locomotives rose by 7.7 percent to 127. Production of diesel locos fell for the same period by 18.2 percent, to 18 locos.
Production of passenger railway carriages dropped by 10.1 percent, to 764 units.
