Volkswagen opens dealership in S California

Volkswagen of America, Inc. said Monday it has opened a dealership in Alhambra, south California, an area vital to the growth of one of the world's largest automakers.
"As we continue to increase sales in the U.S. with a 27.5 percent sales growth year-to-date nationally and a 33 percent increase year-to-date in the Northern Los Angeles district, we are proud to invest into this region," said Werner Mersch, the company's Regional Director."This area is a vital part of our long-term growth strategy in the U.S."
"We are thrilled to service and bring the Volkswagen brand to the Alhambra community," said Rich Wilson, owner of Volkswagen Alhambra and Volkswagen Pasadena.
Executives from Volkswagen and Alhambra Mayor Stephen Sham attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the dealership.
The Alhambra dealership is the first "White Frame" state-of-the-art facility in the U.S. West for Volkswagen, which provides a visual framework that adds to the customer experience by highlighting Volkswagen's brand identity.
Volkswagen of America, Inc. founded in 1955 and headquartered in Herndon, Virginia,is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany.
As one of the world's largest producers of passenger cars and Europe's largest automaker, Volkeswagen aims to sell one million vehicles in the United States -- up from last year' s 213,000 -- by 2018.
