The 2010 Paris Motor Show is to kick off its opening to the press on Thursday and to the public on 2 October, featuring more than 300 models from 20 countries of the global car manufacturers at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center.

Over 100 world premiers are promised by the global car manufacturers to be revealed in this 2-week biennial international event.

ELECTRIC CARS IN CENTRAL STAGE

As environmental-friendly economy becomes main trend of industry, electric cars easily take the central stage of motor show. Electric cars like the Fisker Karma, Peugeot EX-1 and Renault DeZir are fighting to win the most attraction.

Last week Renault confirmed that its first electric van Renault Kangoo Express Z.E. will be launched by mid- 2011, with the selling price of 15,000 to 20,000 euros ($20,434-$27,247). An electric version of its Fluence sedan is also expected in market next year.

Paris car show includes the EDF electric cars test center, the BNP Paribas Learning Center to Eco-Driving, the indoor electric karts track, and an entire hall dedicated to emerging energies and clean cars.

Renault estimated electric cars to occupy 10 percent of global market till 2020, which pure electric-engined cars, foreseen by Peugeot-Citroen will have 4-5 percent market share.

CONCEPT VEHICLES IN SPOTLIGHT

With no exception at any motor show, concept cars and luxury motors are always in the media spotlights.

French carmakers, Citroen has partnered with Lacoste to create the Citroen Lacoste concept of "an emblem for a state of mind and a lifestyle." With golf-ball style wheels, pearlscent white paint and a doorless buggy style, it aims to promote "open air experience."

The world's third biggest carmaker French Renault will reveal a new female-style Twingo co-designed with the costume brand Miss Sixty. The carmaker describes it as a "glamorous exterior with a rock'n'roll interior," with exclusive equipment such as a pink- rimmed tachometer and speedometer, a pink-stitched steering wheel and pearlescent black door mirror housings.

Conventional cars like Ford will unveil its new Focus ST, and Vauxhall will have its GTC Paris Concept aiming at family car buyers.

Automobilists are most excited by the new Ferrari 599 SA Aperta, and the Porsche latest 911 Speedster, which will be limited to a worldwide production of 356 examples.

INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION MAIN INDUSTRIAL TREND

Closer ties between motor industry leaders emerged as background of the show, pushing for international cooperation among carmakers and also targeting more united market.

French newspaper Le Monde reported on Wednesday that Renault- Nissan Motor is interested in closer ties with the American carmaker General Motors. "Today, I remain open to closer ties with GM," Ghosn Carlos, the Chief Executive of Renault and Nissan said.

Renault would go to China one day, Ghosn also said, but not in the next two to three years. China has become the world's largest care market in 2009, replacing the United States.

The show will close its door on 17 October.

In 2008 Paris Motor Show, there recorded 1.43 million visitors, with 13,000 accredited journalists from 100 countries and 80 Global Premiers, proving to be the most attractive international car show than Geneva, Frankfurt, Detroit and Tokyo.
