More energy-saving vehicles on display at Los Angeles Auto Show

With more than a dozen electric vehicles ranging from production to concept, the show provides a picture of the present and future of electric transportation.
More than 50 vehicles are making either their world or North American debut and more than one executives said it's important to be featured in California.
"California is the place where many automotive trends are born," Stefan Jacoby, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Car Corp., said in a keynote address before the show.
"And the Los Angeles Auto Show is an important indicator of the direction the US market is headed," Jacoby added.
Mark Fields from Ford Motor Co. noted that California is the birthplace of the car culture.
Ralph Gilles, president and CEO of Dodge, was excited to have six new models to show off at the show, all with completely new interiors, improved horsepower and fuel economy.
Futuristic concept vehicles continue to be popular at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This year features more than 15 concepts, including Mazda's dramatic Shinari concept, Jaguar's C-X75 electric super car and KIA's POP electric concept with a spaceship-like cabin.
Lotus is completely relaunching its brand and has unveiled five new concept sports cars that outline its future for years to come. Also, several yet-to-be-seen and highly anticipated concepts are on display from Cadillac, Honda, Nissan and Subaru.
