Toyota Prius v, Prius c Concept
Seeking to cash in on the worldwide success of 2 million Prius sold to date, Toyota Motor has given birth to new siblings for its popular Prius hybrid – a midsized wagon and a new compact Prius – both targeted at young and active singles and families.
The Prius v ("v" stands for versatility) shares platform of the current Prius generation and its Hybrid Synergy Drive technology.
According to Toyota, the Prius v will deliver estimated EPA fuel economy ratings of 42 mpg city (17.86 kpl), 38 mpg highway (16.16 kpl) and 40 mpg combined (17 kpl) – the best fuel economy ratings of any SUV, crossover, or wagon on the US market.
The Japanese automaker will also emit 66 percent fewer smog-forming emissions than the average new vehicle.
The Prius c Concept, with "c" representing a "city"-centric vehicle, will appeal to upwardly mobile professionals who want an eco-sensitive, high-mileage, fun-to-drive Prius.
The 2012 Prius v model will hit the global market late summer this year, while the Prius c Concept car is expected to be available in the first half of 2012.
