Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said here on Friday that Pakistan wants resolution of regional issues through diplomatic engagements and will continue its efforts towards reducing tension in the region, local media reported.
Qureshi made these remarks during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif who arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit on Thursday evening.
According to the reports, both sides discussed matters of mutual trust, especially the cross-border terrorist attacks, bilateral ties and border security issues.
Qureshi said that regional tension is in no one's interest adding that Pakistan wants resolution of all outstanding issues through diplomatic engagement, patience and tolerance from all sides.
Zarif assured Qureshi that Iran gives value to Islamabad's efforts to establish peace in the region, adding that developing strong relations with neighbors is on the top of Iranian foreign policy.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction over the implementation of decisions made during Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's recent visit to Iran and vowed to continue cooperation on bilateral matters, the reports said.
