Beijing's Miyun district hosted a marathon race on Sunday, as runners waded through heavy rain to finish the 42.195-kilometer race.

Ethiopians dominated the race by a sweeping win on the podiums in both men's and women's competitions, but for the majority of the participants, results are not what they quested for.

Miyun, located in the city's northeast, harbors the biggest reservoir in Beijing. The picturesque race course had attracted 3,000 runners to take on the full-distance race, while another 3,000 in the half-marathon and 4,000 in the mini-marathon of five kilometers.
