A printmaking exhibition kicked off Wednesday at the Luoyang Art Gallery in Central China's Henan Province. The exhibited artworks were made by students from a local elementary school.

Co-hosted by the Chanhe Hui Ethnic Group Second Experimental Elementary School and the local education bureau, the exhibition runs from Wednesday until Sunday. This is the first time that the gallery has hosted an exhibition of print works made by students.

Printmaking is a process of transferring images from one type of medium onto another surface, most often paper or fabric. Traditional techniques include woodcut, etching and engraving.

"The exhibition presents the results of printmaking education throughout the academic year. These artworks embody the hearts of children, which are bright as sunshine and pure as moonlight. They also show children's passion for life and pursuit of beauty. I believe the exhibition is not a conclusion for the teaching of printmaking at our school, but also a new start," said Chen Guoquan, the school's principal.
